Keep a notepad close by at all times
Yes we have all done it, we could be waking the dog, making a cup of coffee, doing the weekly shop when out of nowwhere a great thought or idea suddenly comes to us like a bolt of lightening. We get all excited as our brain starts ticking over at the possibilities of our new idea and one idea leads to another and another like a tangible thread, the ideas just keep coming and coming!
But wait where are we going to write all these ideas down? On the shopping list we created but wait NO PEN! Maybe we could scribe them onto the fresh melon we just picked up, no wait that would just be silly. So we tell ourselves it’ll be fine ill remember all this until I get home, I’m not going to forget in the next hour or so am I? So we get home, unload the shopping or unstrap the dog and reach for the notepad to record our fantastic new ideas.
So Idea One was: Errmmmm, come on brain what was it again? Never mind onto Idea Two: it was something to do with affiliate marketing and using our contact list to………ahhhh what was it?!!!
Yep that’s right, its gone! Our brain is just like a sponge holding water (but in this case it was holding our great innovative ideas) that has drained out completely until it is holding absolutely nothing except maybe a few drops of water (which in this case are the minor pieces of our idea that we cant’ for the love of god piece back together again)
If only we had a notepad to jot the ideas down to come back to later.
The brain is a miraculous device and it seems to chuck up these brilliant ideas when we least expect them. If you read my article: http://steve-wilkins.com/creating-my-first-ebook-part-2/ you would would have seen that I talked briefly about programming the brain and how it seems to keep digging for information we were looking for, perhaps 5 hours after the time we were looking for it. Especially if we put a lot of pressure on it to give us the ideas or answers we are looking for. I bet you have tried this and hit ”writers block” so given up but long and hold a few hours later the inspiration or ideas you were looking for suddenly hit you when you least expect it. Now when these ”eureka” moments happen we absolutely must get them down on paper before they are gone for good again. If you are out and about and don’t have a notepad to hand then call your home answering phone machine and leave a message of what you want to remember later because I can almost guarantee when your want to get this idea on paper later then your sponge (brain) will have already leaked little parts of this information. So you will be very thankful it is there on your answering phone message to remind you exactly what you were thinking.
I hope this post proves useful to you or you an at least relate to it. I have been in this situation many times over and I tend to get my great ideas whilst I am sat at my desk at my day job so im lucky enough to have my nopepad there with me. If only my boss new
All the best.
Steve.

Hi Steve,
You are correct. We all need that note pad next to us. I’ve been going through the Masterclass blogs and I had to pull on out to capture some of the extra’s our class has come up with.
I noticed you are having the same problem I did with the copyright in the footer. I have documented how I fixed my footer in my blog if your interested, http://www.jaylynne.com.
See you in class.
Jay
Hi Steve, interesting post and some good advice, I always keep a notebook with me as you never know when inspiration will strike. I often take mine down to the pub on a saturday or sunday afternoon for a few hours. Feel free to drop by my blog and make comment if anything interests you.
Cheers
Rob
