Need a Full-Time Salesman and Advertiser? Why Not Use Your eBook?

There was once a time long before the Internet arrived that we would have to employ staff in order to expand our business and keep sales coming in. We would have to employ and advertiser or advertising team to let the general public know where our premises were located and what our product(s) were.

We would need to employ a salesman to go door to door in the hope that he/she could sell our product to the public. We would need to make endless phone calls to  related businesses in order to establish JV partners to launch our products with. The man hours required to sell and advertise a single product were endless.

However times move quickly and so does technology and we are all now in a glorious position to make the most of the technological age and achieve all these the that required so much money and effort so many years ago. Internet marketing businesses have especially boomed in recent years and there is one particular rather infectious reason for this- eBooks !

eBooks present us with the opportunity to advertise our websites and sales pages and offer links directly to these sites and our products. They also give us the opportunity to promote other products in the aim of making commissions. Effectively used, your eBook can become your best advertiser and salesman all rolled into one.

eBooks are the future and the future is now. The printed word on paper bound into books used to be the only way information was given and received but now we have the opportunity to digitally send and receive information in the blink of an eye. We can of course make them a physical product where we deem suitable and with re-writable Cd’s and DVDs being so readily cheap and available – it certainly saves on the cost of publishing and producing your own paper or hard back book.

The marketing eBook is a slightly different animal from just a normal readable eBook. Marketing eBooks contain text, images, links to web pages and navigation controls. The marketing eBook has become a very important part of marketing on the Internet in recent years.

Firstly, your eBook needs to be interesting and informative and capture the readers attention. It must have links back to your web site and  your sales page where you have the opportunity of making a direct sale or capturing leads for which to promote to later.

Next, be sure that you have a prominent section telling readers that they are free to give your E-book away. Let them know that they can post it on their site as a free download, that they can use it as a bonus, and that they can bundle it with other products. This is the way to create viral marketing for your products or services. Remember those links back to your site contained in the eBook? Now just imagine those links being readily available to be clicked by potentially thousands or hundreds of thousands of readers!

Before sending your eBook out to the world, be sure to double check spelling and grammar and be sure that you have tested every link to verify that it goes where it is supposed to go. Obvious errors will reflect badly on you and will not be of much value to you especially if a product you are promoting within the eBook has a broken link.

Try posting your eBook to some of the eBook directories that are readily available. Many let you post it for free, or will let you post a link on their site to your eBook. Here is a few I would personally recommend:

http://www.mindlikewater.com/submitebook.html (pay site)

Good luck with your eBook endeavors and be sure to let me know of your successes.

  1. This is interesting, Steve. I’ve just been reading a (physical) book about publishing and marketing to publishers. It definately needs thinking about.

    Enjoy the journey.
