What’s stopping you from making money online? Continued…
Please read part one below before reading this post… thanks!
For me it became all too easy to start distracting myself from my online woes by filling my morning with meaningless tasks, such as checking my Facebook updates, reading the next latest Internet marketing crazes from all the lists I had subscribed too and checking my Twitter updates and seeing how many followers I had etc etc…
So, if you, like I once was, are finding yourself easily distracted and not spending enough dedicated time on your business, then I have a few recommendations that may help you break free and stay motivated…
Recommendation 1
Download and listen to this MJ tune: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iym7xO3-dz4&feature=PlayList&p=64B74ED1CB4D489D&index=22
Now MJ may not be everyone’s cuppa tea but by listening to this song once every morning before starting my working day I was able to take the essence from the song, and realise that I am the only person who can make a change. Now I am not talking about a bid for World Peace but to change my own fortunes and outcome.
If this song isn’t for you then make your first priority to find a song that inspires you and helps you get focussed for the tasks and day ahead.
Recommendation 2
Create separate email accounts for business and pleasure. It’s fine to log into your business email account in the morning and respond to important emails, but do not by any means log in and start checking and responding to personal emails.
I would also suggest creating a completely different account for all the lists you may be signed up to and have them all directed to this one email account. You MUST NOT check this account first thing in the morning either, it will only serve to distract you as you start opening and reading all the latest craves and offers from your favourite IMers.
In fact I would suggest unsubscribing from all the people who send you emails apart form the ones you really trust and find useful, this should be only 1 or 2 people.
The first thing I did was unsubscribe to all the marketers who only sent me promotions and no value, I am now only subscribed to two marketers lists who I respect and trust fully.
Even if you are on my list and don’t believe I offer valuable content, then unsubscribe, it might hurt my feelings a little
but the most important thing you can do is get you email account sorted so that you are not wading through tons and tons of emails everyday from dozens of marketers, it will only serve to distract you from your own online marketing efforts.
Recommendation 3
Put a picture of your dream lifestyle above your workstation. This could be your dream home, dream car, dream holiday home, ideal wedding, anything that will keep you motivated to reaching your goals and making those dreams a reality.
These 3 practices have served me well in the last 6 months and have helped me break free from all the distractions that kept me from realising my online dreams. There may be many more I have missed, just simply list them down, face them and make the change.
Good luck!
Steve.

FYI- this post was written free-hand off the top of my head with no real editing, a ”speak from the heart’’ kind of post, so I hope it comes across as non-offensive and makes sense to all those struggling marketers out there

Hi Steve,
Part Two of this post rang true just like the previous part. You hit it right on the nail. The distractions throughout the day will cripple our business, if we allow them to. That was brilliantly pointed out by you.
Great post, and your list is definitely not one of the lists that people should unsubscribe from.
Best regards,
George Nieves

Hi Steve
Your right ! its so easy to get distracted with all of the offers you get in your inbox! I have done the same as you, I am oly following a few good people who have the same philosphy as myself! and it has saved me so much time!
I also believe that listening to the right messages even if they are in a song can help you focus to reach your goals!
So well done for a great post!
You can be sure I will be keeping an eye on your blog in the future
All the best
Nick

Another great post Steve. I play music all day long. I don’t like complete silence, (even though I’m a book reader). My favourite place to read is in a pub, with a good jukebox.
I’ve always followed your eMail tips to improve productivity, but I’ve just found another great one today…… I’ve unplugged my phone! (I’ve got an answer-phone so messages can be left). IT’S FANTASTIC
Completely undisturbed time.
Keep up the good work.

I hear you John, I can often been found in the corner of a good pub with the jukebox blazing, it’s where I catch up on all my PDF reading. I’m not great at reading ebooks on the computer so I often print them off and read them in a relaxing environment, the pub or the park

Steve
